Adding Articles

Rules/Guidelines for Adding Articles

  • Decisions of the sysops and bureaucrats regarding organization and structure are final. If you take issue with one of these decisions, take it higher up the ladder, but chances are you'll get the same answer.
  • If you wish to add an article to the wiki search for your entry and verify that it has not already created under a simliar entry name.
  • If it has not been created feel free to click on create and begin your entry.
  • Please use help to maintain the exceptional community that TFR is and provide factual information. A little humor is appreciated now and then, but please try not to fill the wiki with sarcasm and the like.
  • Make sure to add a category or 12 to your entry, a list of current categories can be found here. If you think we need a new one create your own with the category tag: [[category:text here]]
  • Please add an image to your article if one is possible. Try to stay away from copyrighted images, but if unavoidable please give credit to the photographer/owner under it.

Things we need

  • logo - flower is gone, here's another option - logo ]
  • list of topics we need covered
  • pictures integrated with articles. Image uploads are available - please look at Tech:ImageUploads for further details.
  • field strip procedures for guns? No need to double-post from surplusrifle, etc.
  • PLEASE check your links. Links copy-pasted from TFR are often broken due to "..." - so check before you post, and fix if necessary
  • High res (10x7) shots of firearms en profil, both sides and if relevant/interesting a shot of maybe the bolt or somesuch so we can provide good image material.

Things we DO NOT need

  • your "LOL comedy" editing bullshit. This wiki is supposed to be funny and not a grinding stone for your axe against whatever, M16, HK, Colt, AKs, Desert Eagles, Glocks, et cetera
  • This is TFR's wiki so it should reflect our identity as a community as a whole and our individual personalities, but don't shit it up with "lol faggot" and "only idiots would do it this way". Let's try and at least look like we know what we're doing.
  • Guns (oh wait)

Placeholder/New Pages

New articles will show up in the changelog, so watch that.

If you put up a placeholder article, please link it here, so we know to fill it in.

Redirects

  • You can do redirects by adding the following text to the top of your pages:

#REDIRECT[[pagename]] Where pagename is the page name to redirect to.

  • If you have multiple redirects, please have them all redirect to one article. For example:
    • 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, and 9mm Luger should all link to 9mm. Please don't link 9mm Parabellum to 9x19, and link 9x19 to 9mm Luger, etc.

Editing

  • Please use help to maintain the exceptional community that TFR is and provide factual information. A little humor is appreciated now and then, but please try not to fill the wiki with sarcasm and the like.

A guide to editing for the uninitiated can be found here.
