Tech:ImageUploads

As of 20060520, due to general shittiness on the part of ImageShack, TFRWiki supports image uploads.

Uploading Images

To upload images use the Special:Upload page. You can currently upload *.gif, *.png, *.jpg and *.jpeg files. If other types are needed contact me. Each image needs to have a unique name. You can get a list of images / files uploaded at Special:Imagelist, and uploads also show up in Special:Recentchanges.

Using Uploaded Images

To use uploaded images in wikipages you can use the . This will insert the image inline, thus:

gives

Image:Random-train.jpg

A random GNER train.

You can also thumbnail an image, which is better for linking big images. This can be done using . For example, the thumbnail on the left was created using . To put a break in the text and continue after the image, use the clr template. For example, the following break is done using clr.

It is often better style to put the thumbnail on the right to keep it out of the way of casual reading; to do this, replace the 'left' in the thumbnail with 'right', or omit it entirely (thumbnails, sensibly, default to being on the right). The thumbnail on the right is produced, for example, using although would produce the same result. Again, use clr to break until the bottom of the thumbnail.

It might well be a good idea to have a look at the source code of this page to see the examples.

Usage Note

Please do not use this as a general image hosting facility. Images uploaded here should only be used on TFRWiki unless you specifically ask me first.
